Description
A wall fragment commemorates the Jews imprisoned in the Ghetto by the Nazis. In April 1941 the Nazis had a wall built around the ghettofeaturing panels with arched tops that were designed to resemble Jewish gravestones (matzeivah). 15,000 Jews were forced, upon penalty of death, to struggle to survive inside an area previously inhabited by 3,000 Poles. The following year, the Ghetto was brutally liquidated.
