Description
An oil painting by F. C. Wells, Jr., circa 1945, depicts the belongings of a dispossessed family. Original dimensions: 28x37".
The detailed rural scene features a leafless tree and a small house near railroad tracks. Various items are scattered around, including an American flag and a railroad crossing sign.
Wells was initially a social worker at Union Settlement, New York City, and then became an architect. He was born in Beirut in 1889 and died in New Jersey in 1969. During the 1940s and '50s he was an active painter.
